![[Unbuffered Tissue]](images/table/th_218_tissue.gif)
Abaca Tissue:
A long-fibered tissue which resembles Japanese papers in structure and appearance. Made from abaca fibres, this semi-transparent paper lends itself to a wide range of applications in restoration and conservation.
Unbuffered Tissue is recommended when storing protein based materials (fur, leather, silk & wool), unknown or mixed fibres since these are sensitive to alkalinity of a Buffered Tissue.
Document and manuscript repair, backing, lining, reinforcing; Hinging in framing; Interleaving and protective covering for works of art on paper and photography; Wrapping of textiles requiring neutral pH, unbuffered stock; Padding for textiles in shoulders, sleeves as well as shoes, purses, parasols and so forth.
pH Value: 6.8 to 7.2 at time of manufacture. Since it is unbuffered, a drop in pH is to be expected when exposed to normal atmospheric conditions.
