The many varieties of bubble wrap on the market use polyethylene which is very durable and economical. But polyethylene does not provide good air retention characteristics under a load or over time.

The Difference is in the Barrier.
That's why Sealed Air employs a thin, coextruded barrier that is 100 times more resistant to the passage of air than even a thick, single layer of polyethylene. The result is thinner bubbles that retain their air and cushioning power much longer, and under greater pressure, than non-barrier "bargain" bubbles.
